CLIENT MANAGER (ACCA)

PURPOSE OF THE ROLE:

To manage a small portfolio of clients and be the focal point internally and externally on those clients, as the main point of contact. To help implement the company’s strategies under the direction of the Head of Client Services. To promote our purpose, vision, mission and principles to all our stakeholders.

SUMMARY OF THE ROLE

This is a role of rapid development, working towards confidently managing a team, reviewing work prepared by juniors and building on your exposure to client advisory services. We want you to be comfortable running client meetings and presenting information, managing leads and opportunities in your client base and onboarding new clients.

ROLE WITHIN THE ORGANISATION

You will be supported directly by the Head of Client Services and can draw on the expertise of our Tax and Accounting teams to help you learn as you grow your technical and soft skills both with our internal development plan, and your studies.

You will have access to assistants to utilise and assist you in delivering a first class service to all of your clients.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Supervising a team of juniors/apprentices, allocating resources to new work and prioritising jobs
  • Managing your team’s workflow, billing, and workload
  • Onboarding and training team members and apprentices
  • Providing reporting and analytics on your team
  • Hitting internal utilisation and budget targets

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Accurate and complete bookkeeping to trial balance
  • Completing and submitting VAT returns
  • Managing a portfolio of clients and working to build that portfolio – including all elements of workflow, billing and quality control
  • Monthly and annual payroll and P11D submissions
  • Maintaining complete and accurate client records
  • Prepare management reports including Month End journals and reconciliations
  • Accounts preparation for Limited companies, Sole Traders and Partnerships at least to draft stage
  • Regular and proactive client contact, building client relationships
  • Must be able to organise and manage a portfolio of clients, and work with the wider team to meet internal and external deadlines
  • Dealing with external bodies such as HMRC
  • Delegating to and supervising junior staff

QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS

You will need a minimum of three years’ practice experience, preferably an AAT affiliate or part way through ACCA with ambitions to finish them. A working knowledge of UK VAT, bookkeeping to trial balance, fixed assets management, period-end adjustments and journals. Personal and Corporate Tax awareness.

Excellent working knowledge of software, tools and applications within the Accounting Industry, in particular, Xero and TaxCalc would be advantageous.

PERSON SPECIFICATION

As this is a client facing role, you will need to be confident and presentable and possess good communication skills. And as a central member of the TFF team you will be comfortable both leading and taking direction.

  • Minimum AAT Level 3 or equivalent
  • Personal and corporate tax knowledge

  • Excellent IT skills, in particular MS Office and accounting software, experience of Xero, TaxCalc and Sage software is an advantage

  • Experience of managing others an advantage
  • It would be ideal, but not essential, for the candidate to have experience with clients in media, creative, fashion, branding/PR and digital/technology industries.

PURPOSE OF THE ROLE:

To support the Client Managers in our Outsourcing Department to deliver high-quality accounting and tax solutions to our clients. To have a share in promoting our purpose, vision, mission and principles to all our stakeholders.

SUMMARY OF THE ROLE

This is a role of rapid learning and development, developing your technical and soft skills in the job, in tandem with studying your AAT or ACCA exams, if you so wish. You will be performing a wide range of hands-on tasks, putting down strong foundations of knowledge, on the way to a successful career in the accounting industry.

ROLE WITHIN THE ORGANISATION

You will be supported directly by our excellent team of Client Managers to help you learn as you grow your technical and soft skills both with our internal development plan, and your studies.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Ensuring client records are accurately maintained
  • Completing tasks in a timely manner, to deadline

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Posting sales invoices, credit notes, cash and bank transactions and purchase invoices to Xero
  • Accurate data input
  • Working with Excel spreadsheets and cloud software
  • Reconciling accounts
  • Maintaining complete and accurate client records
  • Assisting with penalties, charges and investigations.
  • Assisting in Company Secretarial responsibilities
  • Preparing Self Assessment returns
  • Posting journals
  • Processing payroll
  • Assisting with HMRC investigations
  • Preparing VAT returns
  • Ad-hoc projects, general office tasks as required 

QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS

A good year or two of year of accounts practice experience, or a number of years bookkeeping experience.

Qualifications are desirable, but not necessary. AAT level 2 or better. A minimum of 5 GCSE’s equivalent of grades A – C, including Maths and English (compulsory). You will more than likely have at least 2 A levels with good grades as well.

You will need to demonstrate excellent written and spoken communication, be IT literate, have a hard-working spirit, and display a determination to take on every challenge that arises.
